Fifth on the Park Condos’ architecture blends harmoniously within Emerald City in North York 


Coming soon to Emerald City in North York, Fifth on the Park is the second tower in phase two, following The Colours of Emerald City, now under construction. When the project launches this fall, Fifth on the Park will be the fifth tower in the master-planned community by Elad Canada. Situated at Don Mills Road and Sheppard Avenue, Fifth on the Park will rise 24 storeys above one of North York’s highest point atop a three storey podium. As a result of the land’s grade, the drop-off area and main lobby entrance of the residence is one floor higher than Don Mills Road. “The lower level links to The Colours of Emerald City shared amenities and is still infused with some natural light because it is still slightly above the adjacent street level,” explains Len Abelman, a principal at WZMH Architects. “The podium helps to integrate Fifth on the Park with the surrounding streetscape so that the tower scale does not seem overly imposing to pedestrians.” Over on the south side of the project, the developer is building a new street in order to ease traffic congestion from Don Mills Road. The road also separates Block B from Block C, the third phase of Emerald City.

When designing the structure, the architects created an exterior design that’s unique yet still relates to the other buildings with the use of a similar materials. The result is a contemporary slender point tower that blends harmoniously within its surroundings.

In addition, the south face of the tower is expected to curve along the street and is clad in different shades of glass creating an interesting juxtaposition of angles, curves and hues that further differentiates it from its neighbours.

Careful attention to architectural details continue inside where suites boast innovative design elements like flex rooms which can be used as a den, home office, playroom, studio or dining space. Another is the upgraded option of a flexible kitchen island in certain units that feature an expandable pull-out section to serve as a workspace or dining table. Most suites also have a terrace or balcony with some overlooking a beautiful park or city views.

When the Fifth on the Park begins occupancy in 2018, residents will have access to a wealth of on-site amenities. Typical condo amenities like a party room, fully-equipped fitness centre, swimming pool, saunas, and an outdoor patio and terrace are all included. However, Elad has gone a step further by adding a WiFi Café Lounge, an arcade and game centre and even a karaoke/theatre room.
